Cute Cat And Dog Chocolate

Added on by the ikebana shop.

We teamed up with local Nova Scotia chocolatier, Brigitte Linder of Out The Box Chocolates and came up with these cuties.

Hand-crafted Swiss style chocolates.  (But of course...Brigitte is from Switzerland!)  They are 53% dark chocolate...just the way we like it.  Not too bitter but not too sweet either.  Plus, little spots of white chocolate...just to make them more interesting.

Aren't they just adorable? ^_^

Choco Truffles In A Can

Added on by the ikebana shop.

Does your Mom have a sweet tooth?  Our chocolate truffles in a can could be the perfect Mother's Day gift!  They're no ordinary cans either.

IMG_3050.JPG

This is a tea canister that we've wrapped in Japanese paper with a chiyogami accent and an ornamental mizuhiki (Japanese paper cord) crane ornament.  Makes an elegant gift!  Each can contains 10 different truffle flavours.

Or, you may prefer the cute lucky cat cans....in two styles.  Same contents: 10 different truffles inside.

The chocolate truffles are made by Truffini of  BC, Canada.  They are very popular in the West Coast but apparently very few places have them in the East.  By the way, they are the same guys who make our Matcha Chocolate bars.  We happily taste-tested each truffle too and can confidently say that they are good!  http://theikebanashop.com/blog/shop-log-taste-testing

Here are the truffle flavours.  (Note: Caramel Mocha not included in the cans.)

Shop Log: Taste Testing

Added on by the ikebana shop.

Shop's Log.  Halifax NS.  March 23rd, Friday, 15:47.
Weather: Sunny, 10°C.

One of the perks of being a shopkeeper is being able to test new products.  Today, I had to test some....[drumroll please]...chocolate truffles!  All eleven flavours!  Get ready to salivate: cappuccino, maple, peanut, mint, double dark, hazelnut, raspberry, milk, caramel almond, and orange.

IMG_2703.jpg

Man.. after all that, I was feeling blissfully bloated.  (^_^)

IMG_2704.jpg

A hot cup of houjicha (pan roasted Japanese green tea) helped take that sweet edge off the palate.  Test result: Pass with flying colours!  Now, we're putting together some nice packaging ideas.  Give us a few more weeks...might need some more taste testing!  He! He!

Chocorigami: The Cube

Added on by the ikebana shop.

So, what's in the box? (^-^)

Using unit (or modular) origami, we came up with this box and put a few goodies inside.

Modular origami or unit origami is a paperfolding technique which uses two or more sheets of paper to create a larger and more complex structure than would be possible using single-piece origami techniques. Each individual sheet of paper is folded into a module, or unit, and then modules are assembled into an integrated flat shape or three-dimensional structure by inserting flaps into pockets created by the folding process. These insertions create tension or friction that holds the model together.(from where else but Wikipedia!)

Each cube contains 4 assorted pieces of yummy Belgian chocolate.

We added two "pull open" tabs to make it easier to open, specially for the wee ones.   If you don't like having the tabs, you can always tuck them back inside!

Chocorigami: Crane Envelopes

Added on by the ikebana shop.

Chocolate in Origami...Chocorigami!  (^-^)

The Crane Envelopes
We got some fine Belgian chocolate from our friends down at the Choco Cafe (1360 Lower Water St., Halifax NS) and packed them in our original hand-folded origami.  A strip of beautiful chiyogami paper adds an elegant accent.  We even included a note card that fits snugly at the back...just in case you want to write a special message with the chocolate.

choco tsuru small.jpg
Available in three attractive colours with assorted chiyogami.

choco tsuru all.jpg
We chose six types of chocolate to go inside the crane envelope.  Of course we've tried them all.  Every one of them is oishii!  (oishii = "delicious" in Japanese)

Available at the shop or by mail order.  $9.50 CAD ea.
